Scooterist Portraits, 2020

Like everyone, The Vespa Club of America’s Chicago chapter had big plans for 2020, but all of them were cancelled. While a few of us did meet up occasionally for socially-distant helmeted riding, by the time October rolled around, we were all looking for a safe way to get together and do something different.

One Sunday, I set up an outdoor photo studio in the parking lot of the local scooter shop and scheduled club members to stop by over the course of a few hours to have their portrait taken. I got to see all my friends (from ten feet away with an 80mm lens) for the first time in months, and the schedule and setting kept a minimum of people in one place at one time.
